Late November greetings to everyone in Eagle County and Routt County!

Many of you have shared your heart-felt concerns about what the new administration in Washington will mean for all of us and our beautiful mountain valleys. Some children and families are fearful. In this time of uncertainty, the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King provides a guide for what we can do and a beacon to light the future:

"Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere" and his hope in the closing words of his powerful 1963 "Letter from a Birmingham Jail":

"Let us all hope that the dark clouds of prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear-drenched communities, and in some not-too-distant tomorrow, the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty".

Like Dr. King, we know that to keep our representative democracy vibrant and whole takes work, persistence, and respect for one another. Together we will bridge the deep divisions this election has uncovered and move closer to our ideals of "liberty and justice for all".

This Thanksgiving, we have so much to be thankful for: our caring, compassionate communities, our families and dear friends, and our beautiful headwaters counties. From our wonderful, successful local non-profits, our effective local governments: towns and counties, our public schools, Colorado Mountain College, to our creative, innovative, caring local businesses, we are blessed to have a strong web of people and organizations who strive to make life better for everyone everyday in our beautiful valleys.

I am incredibly thankful for your support, and I am honored and humbled to once again be your State Representative with 60.9% of the 2016 vote. You can count on me to stand up for our values, our people and our environment

I will continue to work on issues that affect us all, such as the high cost of health insurance premiums in our region, parity for mental health services, transportation policy and potential funding solutions, protection of our air and water quality, fuller state funding for public education, and a 21st Century infrastructure, including broadband, so that everyone has the opportunity to work hard and succeed.

Remember that we know how to work with our Republican colleagues whenever possible to develop solutions that build a brighter future for all. Colorado has always been innovative, and we will continue to be a "laboratory for democracy".

Right now, there is much uncertainty regarding exactly what actions the new Administration in Washington will take in January, especially about the environment, public education, health care and insurance, transportation, human services, working conditions and wages, and immigration issues, especially deferred action for childhood arrivals.

To deal effectively with this uncertainty and its negative impacts on you and those you love, I have been discussing possibilities and data with state agencies, particularly the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Colorado Energy Office. Working with our newly elected Speaker of the Colorado House, Crisanta Duran, we are getting prepared to protect our people and our state and to work across the aisle on needed programs and services.

Please do continue to contact me with your concerns, questions, and especially your ideas. I believe that being your State Representative is a sacred trust. I am your employee. I will listen to you, always scrutinize all the evidence, and work cooperatively with all.

You can count on me to stand up for you. By working together, we can build a more just, equitable, sustainable and prosperous Colorado for all of us and all our children.

I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Yours for a just, equitable, sustainable, and prosperous Colorado for all.  Diane Mitsch BushRepresentativeColorado State House of Representatives,District 26-Eagle County and Routt CountyP.O. Box 770535Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
